Both work on the finish of the car, and both start with the paint being washed, decontaminated and prepared. They do different jobs.
Ceramic coating
A liquid coating applied by hand over the existing clear coat, where it cures into a thin, clear layer. It seals and protects the surface the car already has.
The applied clear coat
A new clear layer, built by hand over the existing paint with an applicator. It adds to the finish rather than sealing it as it is.
Which one?
- Paint in good order that you want sealed as it is: ceramic coating.
- Paint that has lost its finish: the applied clear coat.
They are alternatives, not layers on top of each other. We look at the paint with you at inspection and recommend one.
